TDK Corp. is aiming for an early launch of a six-layered write-once 200 gigabyte optical disc it has developed recently.
The disc, compatible with the Blu-ray Disc format developed by a consortium led by Sony Corp., is on display at the five-day CEATEC Japan 2006 electronics exhibition being held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, east of Tokyo, through Saturday.
TDK hopes to commercialize the disc as early as possible after obtaining certification from the Blu-ray Disc Association.
